SAVE THE DATE and Call for Abstracts for the 2027 Klamath Basin Sucker Technical Meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, January 13th, 2027, at the Klamath Community College Conference Center. The meeting will be hybrid, with both in‑person and virtual participation options. It is usually followed with a close-door technical meeting for presenters on January 14th.
This annual meeting provides an important forum for sharing new sucker science, discussing ongoing recovery efforts, and coordinating work across agencies, Tribes, academic partners, NGOs, and local stakeholders.
CALL FOR ABSTRACTS – For those interested to present – please provide a title and abstract by COB Friday November 6th, sent to McKenzie Wasley, Jane Spangler and Josh Gondek (mckenzie_wasley@fws.gov, sarah_spangler@fws.gov, joshua_gondek@fws.gov). We invite presentations that contribute to our collective understanding of sucker biology and ecosystem recovery and welcome technical research, traditional ecological knowledge, and innovative, multi-disciplinary thinking. Time slots for talks are typically 15-20 minutes. We acknowledge many projects are starting, or in-progress. So, if you have information to share within 5-10 minutes, please send a title and abstract for this as well, which we’ll work to incorporate into the Lightning Talks session at the end of the meeting. This meeting brings together a diverse and multi-disciplinary group of collaborators, which in the past has included, but was not limited to, federal, state, tribal, and academic researchers, Tribal members, members of the irrigation community, private landowners, non-governmental organizations, and members of the general public.
For USGS staff that are traveling, the meeting has been entered into UTRIP, and they are working on getting the event formally justified as a mission operational meeting. Updates will be relayed as soon as they are available.
