Starting Wage: $28.64/hour or higher (DOE) | Grade 19

Position Overview:
The Nez Perce Tribe is seeking a motivated and qualified professional to fill a full-time Watershed Restoration Specialist II position. This role offers the opportunity to work with a highly experienced team dedicated to restoring and protecting aquatic ecosystems critical to Endangered Species Act listed fish (Chinook salmon, steelhead and bull trout) recovery.

This position blends office-based technical work during the winter with hands-on field work and project oversite during the snow free months.

Office Responsibilities:

    • Analyze and summarize watershed data
    • Prepare reports and technical documents
    • Utilize GIS tools (ArcGIS)
    • Develop restoration plans
    • Secure environmental compliance for projects
    • Monitor and report on project implementation
    • Assist with grant writing and project development
    • Coordinate with project leadership and partner agencies

Field Responsibilities:

    • Supervise field crews
    • Conduct fisheries and stream habitat surveys
    • Perform culvert and road assessments
    • Oversee restoration projects such as culvert replacement, road removal, riparian planting, water quality and quantity monitoring.

Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Master’s preferred)
    • Three (3) years of related professional experience
      • OR one (1) year of professional experience with a Master’s degree
    • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
